AI Research Student Forum

Many thanks to all who participated in the Forum, and have given feedback since. We’re very pleased with the event, and look forward to the next one.

As promised, slides from the presentations are now available:
Getting a PhD (in Computer Science) - Doing Good Research. Presented by Dr Frans Coenen, University of Liverpool.
Examining a Higher Degree - The View from the Other Side. Presented by Professor Max Bramer , University of Portsmouth.

AI-2007 is the latest in the leading series of UK-based international conferences on Artificial Intelligence run by the BCS Specialist Group on AI. For the first time, SGAI is offering a Forum for AI Research Students to support student members of the AI community. This event offers a full day of workshops and presentations and is FREE TO STUDENTS.

 The event will include:

  • Guidance on conducting research and writing their thesis
  • Feedback on their research and research plans
  • Advice on undergoing a viva
  • The chance to meet other research students and develop networks
  • An opportunity to discuss their work with senior researchers and practitioners

Participants will submit a 4-6 page paper describing their work, which will be reviewed by experienced researchers before the forum.  At the event, participants will give a brief presentation, and will receive feedback based on this and their paper.

The event will also be open to students not submitting a paper/presentation.
This event will be FREE OF CHARGE to students.
